Last Monday, May 21, was another holiday here in Switzerland. Called Whit (or Pentecost) Monday, this holiday comes ten days after Ascension Thursday and celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. If you didn’t know Switzerland was a Christian country before, May is definitely the month to visit to learn that point.
I took the opportunity of having no work that Monday to take a tram to the far side of Geneva, where the Parc aux animaux du Bois-de-la-Bâtie is located.
The animal park of Geneva
The Parc aux animaux du Bois-de-la-Bâtie, or the Animal Park of Bois-de-la-Bâtie, is a free public zoo located in the Bâtie Woods, a city park in Geneva. The Bâtie Woods covers 12 hectares (30 acres) of natural forest, with 2.5 hectares (6 acres) dedicated to the animal park.
I enjoyed my visit to the park and got the chance to test my camera skills with the ever-so-pretty animal models.
